About Me

My photo
StuBee
I initially started this blog more than 10 years ago to write about various wines (More on that below - and I'm preserving this part of my intro because who knows -I may some day return to wine blogging) That is now dormant, but I now like to use this space to track my Road Scholar program experiences. I use this blog to help me recall and look for the wines I liked - and those I didn't like. I find I'm more attentive to the wine when I know I'm going to write about it. Readers will see that I'm focused on value. I don't really believe in scoring wines like a high school teacher (eg. 90 points). It seems arbitrary to try to quantify something like wine - which has so many different qualities. Besides, blind tests have shown the quantifiers often score the same wine quite differently the next time around. I try to cut to the chase and Mrs. Vino also keeps my reviews pithy. In the movie Sideways - a favorite - Miles knows all about wine, tasting strawberry, asperagus and a hint of cheese from one wine. Jack says, "yeah strawberry." and chugs it. We respect Miles, but the wine reviews you see here will be more in line with Jack.
